§ 01Who we are

Two people.One promise.No juniors.

We started 3RS because we kept seeing the same thing: organisations that had invested in resilience, but had no independent way of knowing if any of it would actually hold up. So we sat down over a coffee — and then a second one — and built the practice we would have wanted as clients.

Between us: defence, emergency management, regulated assurance, governance and operations across three decades. On every engagement you get one of us, personally.

The people who will actually do your work.

Dave Curry

Partner — Services operations, facilities & resilience

LinkedIn

Dave is a former not-for-profit board member and an independent advisor specialising in services operations, facilities and asset management, and resilience.

His most recent executive appointment was as Head of Estates for a $1.9B university portfolio, leading a multi award-winning team of over 200 staff and 500 contractors delivering property, events and hospitality, facilities, security and emergency management, and project management services.

Before working in the education sector, Dave served for nearly 25 years in the UK and NZ defence forces — primarily in the development, operation and maintenance of large bases. Since his first FM role in 1988, he has held operational, property and facilities roles in Kuwait, Turkey, Oman, Cyprus and Afghanistan.

A father of two daughters and butler to several furry tyrants (large and small), he professes to taking his work very seriously — but not himself.

Rachel Nottingham

Partner — Governance, risk & regulated assurance

LinkedIn

Rachel Nottingham LLB CMInstD is an independent consultant specialising in governance, risk, assurance, and operational review with particular depth across the not-for-profit, public sector, and tertiary education sectors.

She has supported, advised, or participated in more than 30 boards across NFPs, Crown entities, and SMEs. Recent engagements include evaluating resilience and overseeing improvements to resilience at a large tertiary institute, improved risk and assurance practices across a large university, stood up risk management frameworks in a Ministry, and leading audit and assurance engagements that require building trust quickly, asking the right questions, and producing recommendations people actually act on.

Her career spans governance and commercial roles at Kāinga Ora, the University of Auckland, and Chorus, along with current board roles including CCS Disability Action and chairing a 2,500-person research organisation. She brings a legal background, a chartered director's perspective on governance, and a practitioner's understanding of how regulated organisations work and where the gap between policy and practice usually sits.

A mother of one teenager (which, she maintains, is its own form of crisis management), she values clear language, short documents, and consultants who say what they actually think.

§ 03 — How we work together

Every engagement is led and delivered by one of us.

We are not a large consultancy. We do not have a bench of junior staff. You know who is doing the work. You can talk to them directly. And they will still be around when you want to check progress in twelve months.

Between us, we cover the full scope of what an organisational resilience assessment requires — operational depth, governance understanding, sector knowledge, and the ability to deliver findings that are honest without being unhelpful.

On larger engagements we work as a pair. On GROUNDED assessments, one of us leads. Either way, you get senior practitioners who have done this work themselves — not people managing a process.
